After 60 years of living in this world, I have learned a few things:

Life goes on with the good and bad.

Time and all else passes sometimes a bane, sometimes a blessing.

Careers end, jobs fail and we learn how unstable life really is.

Distance separates and we sometimes forget even our dear ones.

Children grow up and sometimes grow away.

We reap what we sow like it or not.

Love waxes and wanes even with dearest friends.

People find fault with about everything and so do we.

Hearts break and not too many care.

Even friends are ungrateful and we ourselves forget favors.

Only a few truly kind words are spoken though they cost us nothing.

Men don’t keep their word, not even all Christians.

Parents die even, our very own.

And life goes on with the good and bad.

But I have also learned that those who live without Jesus don’t really live. No matter our age, no matter our temptation, no matter our deep trials and tribulations, the Lord is never farther away than our prayers. I have learned that without Jesus Christ in my life, I would be miserable, undone, without direction. I have learned that I would be spiritually wretched, blind, and without hope in this world. I have learned that I would be lost forever in that awful, engulfing flame of torment and remorse.

Life’s valley must be walked, but we need not walk it alone. If we are a Chris-tian, we have Jesus encouraging us, interceding on our behalf, and waiting for us just across the river at the valley’s end. He walks beside us. Sometimes, he even carries us. Jesus blesses our life! The world wouldn’t be the same without him, and neither would we. When we began this adventure called "life," we had no idea of the incredible joys or the deep sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need the Lord. But now we know. –Selected
