The Bible says, "speakevery man truth with his neighbour" (Eph. 4:25). That eliminates vagary and double-speak. The verse is very clear. It should be taken to heart when we are asked what we believe about doctrinal issues. In 2 Timothy 3:10, Paul describeshonest, Christian character in these words: "But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience."

1) My doctrine = what I preach is open and well known to you

2) manner of life = the way I live and teach and work (Grk: mode of living; the life led)

3) purpose = my aim, my open and obvious intentions and direction (Grk: to display, set forth)

4) faith = the gospel I preach, observed clearly in my life

5) longsuffering= in facing privations, persecutions, adversaries

6) charity = love for God, His Word, and for all others

7) patience = in bearing reproaches, sufferings and persecutions for the sake of Christ

We cannot please God if we are not open and honest with others. We have Paul's example in this passage.
